Kaharoa School is a full primary school for our 5 year old new entrants through until the end of intermediate (Year 8). Our school is set in a unique rural environment where learning, values and community are closely connected.
We are proud of being a school where children are known well. Our size allows us to offer a wide range of opportunities — in sport, the arts, science and in leadership — while still maintaining the close relationships and strong sense of belonging.
At Kaharoa, our grounds and facilities consist of open playing fields, astroturf courts, a heated swimming pool, library, the Kokako Centre, and a small native reserve that supports our environment focus. These spaces are part of how our children learn, explore and grow.
Our Values - MARK
Our motto is Tā Mātou Pai Ake – Our Best Always. This speaks to effort, character and growth.
Our values are expressed through the acronym MARK:
These values shape daily life at Kaharoa. They guide how we treat one another, how we approach learning, and how we contribute to our community.
A Strong Sense of Community
Kaharoa School has a long history of active community involvement. Parents and caregivers are valued partners in learning. We believe education works best when school and home are connected, and when children see the adults around them working together with shared expectations and shared pride.
We set clear boundaries and high expectations, while maintaining a warm, family-oriented atmosphere. Children are encouraged to participate, to step up, and to support one another.
Our team — teachers, learning assistants, office staff, librarian, caretaker and Board — work collaboratively to ensure every child is supported to grow academically, socially and personally.
At Kaharoa School, we are committed to nurturing capable learners — young people who care, who lead, and who give their best.
