School Leadership Update & Sports and Opportunities

We are delighted to announce two internal appointments to our leadership team. Congratulations to Nicky King and Isiah Hamlin for your successful applications. Kaharoa School remains committed to growing both staff and student leadership which is captured in our school value of Rangitira. Both continue their roles as full time classroom teachers alongside supporting their colleagues as leaders of learning.

We welcome back to our kura Elizabeth Kennerly who will be the Rākau teacher for the remainder of the year as we farewell Whaea Julie at the end of this week to start a new role at Te Kura (The Correspondence School).

Sports and Opportunities: Our combined Selwyn and Kaharoa sports camp team had an amazing week competing at Tōtara springs. We have students competing in hockey, swimming, and mountain biking later in the term at the AIMs tournament. We receive many invitations to opportunities and events throughout the year. Kaharoa staff are able to support a selected few of these, and we can also support students to attend some of these with a parent and complete the required Risk Management and Supervision planning.

If you see an interschool event in an area that your child has been involved with, please get in touch with the school as the approval and planning process takes 4-6 weeks. We really appreciate all of our parent volunteers who make many of these opportunities possible for students.
