There is a lot going on in the world at the moment, and it can be easy for both adults and children to become focused on the negatives. At school, we are continuing to encourage students to: Look for the positives; Show gratitude; Step up and take opportunities; and Focus on what they can control. When we adjust our perspective, we often notice the many great things happening around us - learning, friendships, opportunities, and growth.
Our tamariki take their cues from us. When we model optimism, gratitude, and a “can do” attitude, we help build resilience and strong character.
Let’s continue to support our young people to be positive, grateful, and ready to make the most of the opportunities in front of them.
Digital Safety - Supporting Healthy Use
Digital technology is a powerful tool. We take a proactive approach to digital safety and citizenship across the school, including conversations about appropriate use, online behaviour, and managing time on devices.
A key part of this is what happens at home. We are seeing increasing amounts of time spent on devices, and this can have an impact on sleep, focus, and wellbeing.
We encourage whānau to:
• Have clear expectations around device use (what, when, and how long)
• Keep devices in shared family spaces where possible
• Monitor usage and apps regularly
• Ensure devices are not used overnight
These are not always easy conversations, but they are important. Working together, we can support our students to be digitally mindful, showing respect for themselves and others in online spaces, and developing habits that set them up well for the future.
Carpark Safety
To ensure this space continues to be as safe as possible for all students and families:
• Please drive slowly through the carpark at all times
• Remind your children to walk around the play hub or wait for you at the waharoa - students are not
allowed to walk through the carpark without an adult.
• Avoid parking in no-parking zones or blocking access ways.
• Be mindful that children can move unpredictably
Our students are learning to be aware, but they rely on adults to create a safe environment around them.
