EPro8 and Rural Cross Country Success!

I’m writing this at the end of two very successful events - ePro8 and Rural Cross Country. What a fantastic whirl of activity around the place, and awesome involvement from students, staff, and parent volunteers. Our ePro8 Year 7 and 8 team not only took out the interschool event, but came second at the regional finals. The only thing that set them back was a ‘build the tallest tower challenge’ as a tie-breaker when their tower (which was heading to be the winner) collapsed at the last second. Awesome work team! The Year 5 and 6 team also did exceptionally well, coming 2nd equal at the semi-final and then 8th in the final. It was fun to coach them on their building technique and ideas for making team decisions in the heat of the competition.

On Tuesday we had the Rural Schools Cross country followed by the junior school cross country with a beautiful clear sunny day. Staff compared ‘how many layers’ they were wearing and the winner was 6 - but I didn’t think the 6th layer being a ‘scarf’ counted as a layer - while a number of the students roamed around in shorts and a t-shirt - unbelievable! Congratulations to all that participated and demonstrated Tā Mātou Pai Ake - giving the race their best shot.

Since sports and events have started back up in orange, we have found it difficult to get coaches, managers, and parent volunteers who are able to help - as many families wrestle with changed circumstances or ongoing illnesses. A huge thank you to all our parent volunteers that provided food, and were able to BBQ and serve food throughout the day - and a huge thank you to our PTA committee and friends of the PTA for all their mahi/work getting things organised.
