Rotorua Library Summer Holiday Programme and Reading Challenge

posted: Thu, December 05, 2019

The Youth and Early Learning team at Rotorua Library has put together a summer holiday programme they are sharing with local schools. The programme has many activities for children aged 0-18 years.

Attached is a copy of the complete school holiday programme - a highlight being author and illustrator Donovan Bixley coming to talk as well as running an illustration workshop. They will also have a range of craft activities, STEAM challenges and Lego activities.

They are also running the Summer Reading Challenge again. Here, the children’s are encouraged to read for 8 hours of reading (in 15min segments) which will allow them to enter a draw to win one of 20 $50 vouchers. They can complete as many as these forms as they want which will allow them to have more chances to win a prize. During the reading challenge they can also ‘read away fines’- for 15mins of reading children can take off $2 of late fee fines on either a child or adult card. This reading challenge is to help increase literacy and reading over the summer period, when the children are not at school.

More information is included in the documents attached.
