In January there have been 11 confirmed cases of Measles in the Waikato, BOP area.
It is an important time to check if you and your whānau are up to date with the measles immunisation. The vaccine that protects against measles is the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) and given as two doses normally at 15 months and 4 years.
Early signs are fever, runny nose, sore eyes, and cough. After 5 days a red blotchy rash appears. The attached flyer has more information and pictures.
Any concerns please keep your child at home and visit your GP. For more information please contact your school Public Health nurse 07 3437747.
