Garden To Table’s Cooking Competition

posted: Fri, June 14, 2019

Garden to Table’s Root to Tip cooking competition for year 5 & 6 students is back for 2019, once again supported by Rabobank and endorsed by Love Food Hate Waste.

In 2018 kids all-around New Zealand got creative in the kitchen creating delicious dishes that sharpened their cooking skills while also getting them thinking about reducing food waste.

The competition is being run in much the same way as it was in 2018, with a 2 hour cook time for the kids (to prepare two dishes).

Recipe entry submissions are opening soon! It’s so easy…

1 - Grab a partner (also in year 5 or 6)

2 - Design a vegetable-based menu of entree and main OR main and dessert

3 - Complete your entry online by 5pm, Monday 1st July*

4 - Win your regional heats in early August

5 - You and your partner will be winging your way to Wellington for the competition finals on Friday 23rd August judged by Al Brown!

Key dates are as follows -

Monday 17th June - Entries open

Monday 1st July - Entries close
