Welcome Back
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back children and parents to our new school year. A special welcome to the new families who have decided to enrol their children at our wonderful rural school.

A special welcome to our new teachers, Denise Sharp, Shanelle Kivell and Kimberlee Fields. As a Board we are excited to have you on board and I am sure parents will join me in offering you a warm welcome. Warwick, Rose and the team of teachers have been busy over the break preparing for the year and are excited to be back.

With Board of Trustees elections this year on 7 June our current Board members will be canvasing parents to promote interest in standing for this important governance role. With three or four Board members standing down we look forward to receiving nominations before 24 May from interested parents. The wider the skills base of parents the better.

With an operations grant of only $264,000 to cover all the school costs (apart from teacher salaries) and based on our end of year survey the Board moved to increase our school donation to $50 per term per child (which equates to $1 per day), with an activity fee of $50 for the year. This extra income will help cover teacher aide costs so that we are not having to rely on our PTA (and you) so heavily. This means the PTA can focus more on school or curriculum related projects. A reminder to parents that school donations are tax deductible.

We are eagerly awaiting concept plans for our Junior Block and hope the Ministry of Education can get the project up and running this year.

Wishing you all well for the year ahead.

Sarah Coatsworth

Board Chair
