Congratulations to Don Hammond

posted: Sat, May 02, 2020

Congratulations to our past Kaharoa School Board Chair, Don Hammond, who has been elected as Board Chair to the New Zealand Centre for Gifted Children (NZCGC). Don’s (and wife Andrea’s) now grown-up children Rob, Isabel and Emily all attended Kaharoa School along with their Grandmother Ann Smith who worked as a valued staff member in our library. We wish Don all the best in this new role. He will certainly add value to this organisation. Below is the post put out by NZCGC

Welcome Don Hammond - Our new Chair Elect.

As of 5th May 2020, we are very excited to welcome a new chair to the NZCGE Board - Don Hammond. Don is an experienced Director, being a member on several boards, and is a member of the Institute of Directors. He brings a wealth of knowledge to our organisation and most importantly is motivated to see our work recognised, knowing the impact gifted education can have on individual children, their families and our communities. Don’s own children attended our programme in the early 2000’s and he understands that gifted children are our future leaders and failing to invest in them is a failure to invest in our future society. We look forward to having Don on board.
