Thank you very much to everyone who helped create a big pile of scrap metal over Queens Birthday Weekend. Macaulay Metals picked it up the following week and the proceeds have been donated back to school. Anyone who still wants to get rid of more scrap metal can drop it straight to Macaulay Metals on 73 Old Taupo Road. They are open Mon - Fri, 8am - 4.30pm and Sat, 8am -12pm.

We are on the hunt for things to fill our growing Play Pod (here is a short clip showing exactly what this is and what the benefits are!)
A calendar of term events is available on this web site for your convenience. In addition these events can be imported to your digital device. Add the Kaharoa School calendar to your phone/tablet/computer’s digital calendar When you click the button below, your device will ask you if you want to add the Kaharoa School Calendar. Depending on the setting of your device, changes and new events will be atomically updated. Subscribe to the Kaharoa School Calendar
When dropping children off at school and picking up after school, in the interests of safety, maintaining safe vision for cars leaving the car park and traffic flow please do not park in the bus stop or in front of the school sign. Where possible please use the main carpark.
Most Mondays we will have fresh vegetables for sale in our vegetable stand. These are available for parents to purchase by donation. Your support will be greatly appreciated by the children who are assisting with the gardens. Money raised will go back to our Garden to Table initiative. A win/win situation.
Welcome Back I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back children and parents to our new school year. A special welcome to the new families who have decided to enrol their children at our wonderful rural school.
Kaharoa Keas is our New Entrant Transition programme for children due to commence school.

The children had a great time at our first Kaharoa School Agrikids afternoon. We expect with a bit of tweaking this will become a regular part of our Lamb, Calf, Kid and Chicken Day event. A huge thank you to Jacqui English for organising the event on behalf of the PTA. Thank you also to Alistair Coatsworth, Brendon Conwell, Claire Austin, Tony Thaugland, Andy Gifford and Phil Rivers. Mr Thaugland also wanted me to thank his helpers – Elspeth, Casey and Olivia.
At the end of last term the classes were busy creating their masterpieces for our Art Exhibition which was held on the 25,26 & 27 September.
Just a reminder that in Term 1 & 4, it is compulsory for all children to wear the Kaharoa School sun hat. These hats can be purchased from the school office at a price of $20. If you would like to buy a hat either pop into the office or email Heidi and she will fit a hat for your child and you can pay by cash or direct credit into the school bank account #12 3155 0189083 00.
As of this year for all sports & school events out of school, the children will be allocated a school sports t-shirt to wear for that event. The t-shirts must only be worn for the event and not after hours.
See the attached case study about why it is so important for children to read for 20 minutes a night.

An IMPORTANT request for help and support from ALL Kaharoa School parents. As some of you may already be aware we have a pupil at school who quietly and strongly copes with Systemic chronic juvenile arthritis. This young man gets fully involved in our school life despite often being in pain, while at the same time showing great resilience and character. He is currently receiving treatment and this is where we need your help.
We need help!
If you can help with any of the items above, please click on a task to find out more and volunteer.
