40 Hour Famine: 25-27 June

posted: Wed, May 12, 2021

A fun event for children and families to raise funds for food for children in sub-Saharan Africa.

Children aged 8-13 years can do a maximum of 20 hours of no eating or could choose to do 20+ hours without something else (that would be hard to do without) to raise money. There are ideas on the World Vision FAQs page here. Children under 8 years can also participate by doing a different challenge, for example no furniture, no-TV, or the no-talking challenge. This year we will again be doing the Famine online.

Anyone wanting to participate this year can join the school team by visiting our Kaharoa School Famine Page, click on the “Join this team” button then follow the prompts to set up your own fundraising page. An email will be sent to a parent/caregiver by way of consent. You are now part of our team!

Share your fundraising page with your friends and family by email or social media - you could even ask them to send the link on to their friends and family, or people they know would also love to support you.

Money raised in the 2021 World Vision 40 Hour Famine will help protect children threatened by the hunger pandemic in the sub-Saharan African region. You will put food on the table for children who go entire days without eating. You will plant seeds that grow into vegetables to feed whole families for months and years to come. You will give families chickens to provide daily eggs and organic fertiliser for fast-growing crops.

Should donations exceed the World Vision 40 Hour Famine project needs, excess funds will support other projects reaching children in urgent need.
