A huge *congratulations* to the Kaharoa Futsal Team who won the Waiariki Girls Futsal Competition, finishing the season unbeaten!
The Kaharoa team played in the Waiariki Girls Futsal competition. It is a 5-aside competition.
The team consisted of Alyssa Hall, Olivia McNeil, Emily and Olivia Downs and ex-pupil Jessica Downs. We only had 5 players and Scarlett Bradley filled in superbly when Alyssa was sick for the semi-final.
The girls scored 60 goals and conceded only 5 goals in the pool games. In the semi-final they beat Rotorua Intermediate 6-1 with 4 goals from Emily Downs and 2 goals from Oliva Downs.
They had an amazing final against Tokoroa Intermediate who came out fired-up with a physical approach and direct game plan. Kaharoa were 2-0 behind quite quickly, but managed to stay in touch. In a pulsating game Kaharoa scored two late goals for a 5-5 draw. Kaharoa then dominated the extra-time period to win 6-5, with a quick pass from Emily setting up Alyssa to score the winner.
Any girls that are keen to play next year please talk to any of the current team.
