Teacher’s Paid Union Meeting

posted: Thu, May 17, 2018

You may be aware of the nationwide crisis in recruiting and retaining teachers.

Throughout June, teachers who are NZEI Te Riu Roa members have been invited to paid union meeting so they can plan and discuss next steps in our campaign to address this crisis. The meeting schedule has been planned so teachers and principals across the country can work out the best meetings for them to attend, including the option of groups of teachers attending meetings at different times. This is to help reduce disruption to teaching programmes, children and parents.

Our children deserve the best education in the world, and New Zealand can afford to provide it. It’s just a matter of priorities. This meeting will be held on Thursday 28th June.
There will be supervision at school for the children but we would prefer if you could pick your child up from school at lunchtime on this day. Please make sure to sign your child off the bus list if you do pick them up.
