Wecome to Room Tawa

I would like to welcome everyone back to school and I amlooking forward to a learning packed term.

WHAT IS ON FOR THE TERM

1. LIFE EDUCATION: The Life Education Trust is in school this term. Room Tawa will be focussing on the benefits of being a good leader and what qualities a good leader has. They will also be learning about reputation and their own identity and what this means for us.

2. School Events. The events to watch out for this term are the gymnastic competitions, Tough Guy and Gal Challenge, Spelling Bee competition and the Speech Competions both in English and Chinese. Don’t forget Rotomaths. There is something for everyone.

3.Personal Presentations. Presentations have a different look this term. The children will be expected to learn a new skill to share with the class near the end of the term.

4. Home work challenges. Those children doing the homework challenges remember to hand them in so they can be marked

5. Electives. These start this Friday

A Big welcome to Matua Regan who will be joining Room Tawa this term. Matua Regan is a local man in his second year of teacher training. He will be in Tawa for 6 weeks starting in week 3

CURICULUM

The Cornerstone Value for term 3 is Consideration and Concern (Whai Whakaarotanga) ‘Willingness to be kind, thoughtful and consider the interest of others before self.’

Room Tawa will have opportunities in maths, science, technology to create plans and models with consideration for the environment.

Writing
In writing, children will be writing stories that relate to their own environments. They will write reports and speeches for the up and coming speech competitions.No topics have been decided as yet.

Maths
The focus for maths is measurement, 3d models and Rotomaths .
